Nicholas Preston is the Founder and Principal Designer of Preston Design, a residential architecture practice in Wellesley, Massachusetts. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Roger Williams University and brings twenty years of experience designing custom homes, additions, and renovations.

His experience spans historic Italianate estates, traditional shingle-style homes, contemporary, mid-century, brutalist, and modern residences, along with many styles in between. That range allows him to work confidently across design styles, shaping each home around the property, the homeowner’s preferences, and the way the family lives. Proportion, natural light, comfortable room layouts, and carefully considered details guide his work.

Since founding Preston Design in 2015, Nicholas has kept the practice intentionally small so he can remain personally involved in every project. Clients work directly with the person designing their home. He develops the concepts, prepares the drawings, and guides decisions as the project progresses, providing continuity and a clear point of contact.

Nicholas brings the same care to the construction drawings that he brings to the design. His detailed drawing sets give builders clear direction on dimensions, materials, assemblies, and finishes, helping resolve questions before construction begins. LiDAR scanning, 3D modeling, and realistic visualizations support accurate planning and help clients understand what they are building.
