A Contemporary New England Home in Arlington, MA

Designed by Preston Design for a sloping site in Arlington, Massachusetts, this new home presents a contemporary interpretation of traditional New England architecture with subtle Scandinavian influences. Its simple gabled form is defined by a white stucco exterior, dark standing-seam metal roof, and black-framed windows. Expansive triangular glazing fills the upper level with natural light and gives the familiar roof form a distinctly modern expression. A generous covered porch extends the living space toward the landscape, while slender columns, warm wood accents, and cable railings introduce a lighter, more refined character. The restrained material palette and carefully composed windows create a home that feels bold and contemporary while remaining comfortable within its established residential setting.
